Separk Mansion Wedding with Rose Gold and Mint | Charlotte Wedding Photographer

When I noticed  trend of emails coming in asking how I put on styled sessions, I decided to take a huge leap of faith, and I hosted my very first workshop on styled sessions! I prayed hard about it, and asked God to show me if this was the right path for me. There were so many times where I doubted myself because I am so not an extrovert, and speaking in front of people is a pretty huge deal to me. When my brother returned, he insisted on a sibling night. I told him about my concerns for the workshop, that perhaps I wouldn’t provide enough for my attendees like they deserved, that maybe it wouldn’t come together, that I worried I’d mess up… He stopped me, prayed with me right there, and told me it would all be okay. I had a few friends that were supposed to come primarily as moral support, but as luck would have it, something came up with each of them, leaving me to myself. All by myself. To teach a workshop. In front of actual people. That was also my turning point, though… because I did it! And everyone had a great time! I literally talked until I went hoarse! As scary as stepping outside of your comfort zone can be, sometimes that’s how you grow. To know that I successfully pulled off two gorgeous styled shoots (with the help of some fantastic vendors) as well as TAUGHT?? I did that! I, Casey Hendrickson, the introvert of all introverts, TAUGHT. A. WORKSHOP. And when I read Cheyenne Kidd‘s blog, my heart soared 🙂

“A few months ago, I came across Casey Henderickson Photography and saw that she was hosting a workshop (her first ever) on styled shoots. I loved her work and all of the vendors she has worked with so I decided to register for it. Going into this workshop, I was unsure of what it was going to be like because I had never attended one. It was a wonderful day full of learning and photographing and I couldn’t have left happier.”

I read this while I was hanging out with Chad for his birthday, and could not stop smiling. He read it too, looked at me, and goes, “So! When’s your next one gonna be?!” For those interested as well, Skip Erdman was FANTASTIC and recorded the workshop for us!! We will be selling this as an online course when it gets completed 🙂

So, ready for the first part? Tenesha of Roshel Events and Carolina’s Luxury Event Rentals came up with the color scheme of mint and rose gold. I knew the Separk Mansion would be the perfect backdrop for us with both looks we were doing, and gah was it! Our couple for this was a real couple that expressed real emotions. Cassie and Corey just got engaged, so I wanted to do a first look with them to evoke their feelings. Lindsay Pizzuti of Mirror Bomb Studio did Cassie’s hair while Caitlynn Finney did her makeup. I had picked out this dress that kept catching my eye every time I visited Sheena at The Bride’s Choice, and Kathleen at The Bead Lady did her jewelry. Florals were provided by Chelish Moore Flowers, our beautiful hand-painted cake was created by Ines at Sky’s The Limit Bridal Sweets, Susan of Sweetest Beginnings brought in the most beautiful invitations I’ve ever seen, Union Street Bistro catered some incredible meals, Diamonds Direct of Southpark provided gorgeous rose gold rings, and one of my favorite parts was what April brought in from Evermore‘s China plates. All these elements together created a gorgeous scene different from anything I’ve photographed before!
