Engagements

Amanda and Jason | Charlotte NC Wedding Photographer

After dealing with nasty weather all of last week, Amanda and Jason were finally able to have their engagement session Sunday afternoon 🙂

When I asked them to pick their locations, I asked them to choose places that have great meaning to them.
I met up with them and we started our session at Jason’s favorite hunting field. The grass was lovely and a brilliant green, the creek was gurgling (I hate that word) flowin’ (unlike Yahoo’s suggestion of describing it as “moving rapidly as if being chased by a mongoose”), and the sun was shining down on us! Like any good ol’ country boy, it was important to Jason to have some photos with his truck. These two were enjoying themselves and made it a game to make a face at me before I snapped a shot. I was a bit quick on the draw though… MUAHAHA. And then I fell at the creek. And they got to laugh at me.
Amanda chose their lake house on Lake Norman because this is where Jason proposed. Before we went there, we made a couple of stops- one at the railroad tracks and one at Ramsey Creek Park. As we walked along the shore area, we heard that familiar music that makes every kid – and some adults- scream, “OMG ICE CREAM OMG”. This made for the perfect addition to our session 🙂
Lastly, we ended at the house. Jason’s parents were hanging out with this large sign, and his mom goes on to tell me the cute story of the proposal: it was a gorgeous afternoon, and both Amanda’s family and Jason’s family were chilling out on the water. They were getting pretty hungry as dinner time neared, so they decided to go grab some chicken wings from this little restaurant off the lake. Upon their return to the house, Amanda’s mom first noticed a large sign spread across the yard reading, “AMANDA- WILL YOU MARRY ME??” and immediately turned around with this grin covering her face. As soon as Amanda saw it, she was in total shock! Jason got down on his knee, and popped the question to her as neighbors and family cheered. The moment Amanda said yes, they were showered with hugs from both families 🙂
The one thing I loved most about this session was how cheesy Jason was towards Amanda. An example: When we put the ring on the fishing hook, he claimed he really “hooked a good one” haha! I am really looking forward to their wedding in October 🙂
