A post from Becky

As many of you have read in past blogs, my cousin was called to do the World Race. She will be traveling around to a third world country every month for a year to do missionary work. I have been following her journey, and I’ve been in such awe at everything she’s been through, yet her spirits still soar. She has the best heart of anyone I know, and she’s so full of kindness and love- if anyone was made for this type of mission, it is her – no doubt about it. I was visiting Chelsea awhile back, and we got a call from Becky. These don’t happen too often, so when I heard her voice, I was filled with excitement. She gave me permission to share some of what has been going on, so I thought I’d start it off with a blog to really capture some of those raw moments while ending it with a cute video they made. Her group is currently in Thailand now, and I hear they are LOVING it 🙂 If you’d like to keep up with her journey, please visit http://rebeccacoleman.theworldrace.org.

“And my favorite ministry moment this week: Praying for a man sitting on the road. As we passed his hand came out and I saw him but my feet kept walking. The Lord caught me and said, “Don’t harden your heart Beloved.” I turned around, stopped my team and really looked at him. He looked about 60 and his eyes were cloudy. His fingernails were thick and yellow and as my eyes scanned down his body they settle on his left leg. His whole foot and ankle was a mass of angry sores. The skin was split open in zig zags across his flesh and the area was covered in flies. My heart broke. Liz asked him in French if we could pray for him. A weak, “Oui” was the response. I kneeled in front of him and touched his knee and we started praying, all together. His open hand closed and he bowed his head. After a few minutes I looked into his eyes and they were filled with tears. What had this man been through? What had he seen in his life? How long has he been sitting here? I grabbed his hand and started talking to him in English as my team kept praying. “We see you brother, we see you.” I told him that he is handsome. I told him that he is a beloved son of Jesus and he is so precious in the Lord’s sight. I told him that he is ferociously loved. I willed all the strength and love that I have to be poured into him. The tears fell down his face and I know he heard me. He nodded his head and took a deep breath. I squeezed his arm and stood up. I could feel Jesus smiling down on us. We got it right and we loved the one He had put in front of us. There is no greater high.”
