Last week I had the joy of photographing Hank and Jessica’s wedding day. These two contacted me several months ago to talk about their wedding day, and both were beyond excited about everything that would be happening over those few months left before they both walked down the aisle. This wedding was extremely different than any I’d done before. They only needed me to be there for a couple of hours, so I decided to grab my sister that day and show her a little about shooting a wedding and using a professional camera (which I will admit I had a slight heart attack that moment I handed her my precious backup 5D mkII). I think she did quite well, and I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly she was able to understand changing ISO and speed for different lighting situations!
Hank and Jessica were my first couple to opt in doing a “first look” rather than a “first touch” before the wedding. They each had written a note to the other to hand off before they would get that chance to turn around, and both grasped a bundle of balloons held low in front of their faces so that they would see each other at the exact same moment. After they were ready to see each other, I had them close their eyes and turn around to face each other. On the count of three, both loosened their grip and took in that moment of surprise, excitement, and pure happiness! Hank’s expression is pretty priceless 😉
These two did a something a little different with their ceremony, and I found it to be one of the sweetest gestures ever. As the doors opened for Jessica to walk down the aisle, Hank left his post to greet his bride halfway to finish walking her down himself. These two laughed and got a little teary during the vows, and their love and positive energy flooded the entire room.
I wish these two the best with their future together, and can’t wait to see how their relationship continues to grow more and more with each day 🙂 Congratulations, you two!
