I joke about being so overprotective of my sister, but hey she’s my little sweet innocent mini me, and it’s hard watching her grow up! It was hard watching my little brother grow up, but I wasn’t yet grown myself so I feel like my little sister is harder to just “be okay” with. Any oldest children totally understand this.

Alexa knows my overprotective ways, so she decided to play it up…
RING RING goes the phone.
Me: Hello?
Alexa: Guess what?!
Me: …what…
Alexa: Someone asked me to PROM this year!!!!
Me: WHO IS HE. I NEED TO KNOW. I NEED A BACKGROUND CHECK. PRONTO.
Alexa: Hahaha chill…. it’s Lizzie!

Evil. Evil. EVIL. Lizzie is one of her best friends, so my fears and total panic instantly subsided as I tried not to reach through the phone and strangle her for that. A few days later I got word she was already dress shopping, so I decided to go with her! We didn’t have much luck that day, but thankfully she kept me in the loop for her second round. I was at an infant session, and we had just taken a break so the baby could get some grub when I get two images of my sister in two different dresses on my phone and a call asking for my opinion. At first I had actually chosen the other dress, but when I saw her in it and saw how WELL it photographed, I was instantly happy with her choice! (Yes, Alexa… I just said I agree with you publicly)
The Monday before Prom, I headed down to Albemarle with her to grab some photos. I asked her to pick out any place she wanted, and she chose a certain spot we’ve grown to absolutely love!

On Saturday, I went back down to Albemarle to photograph both Lizzie and Alexa just before they went off to their first prom (tear!) to dance their night away! Thankfully we got to shoot in some amaaaaaaaazing light, and I think it’s safe to say they ROCKED it.
