Well, first of all, happy new year!! I figure there’s no better way to start this year off than to share the first styled session I had with a planner last year that was recently featured on the fabulous UK wedding blog Whimsical Wonderland Weddings!
At the beginning of 2013, I did my first ever bridal show. I went in with my nerves running high, but was shortly greeted by this girl (Tenesha with RoShel Events) that brought me cake samples. And we were like BFFs instantly. A few weeks went by, and we finally met up to have some coffee and talk business! We had ideas popping up here and there about what kind of styled session we wanted to work on together, but as time grew closer to the date we’d set out to host these, everything began falling into place for our romantic Grecian wedding styled session. I think about a day and a half before the session was to take place, I was informed there was a swimming pool at the house. Creativity time!!! I went online to see what the odds were I could obtain an underwater housing unit for the camera in time for the session, and it was honestly pushing it. Sure enough, I got a knock on the door the night before from my handy dandy UPS man holding my box!
On the day of the shoot, I woke up with tons of excitement… and then looked out the window. Do you guys remember when it was like a crazy monsoon here like for an entire month straight? Yea, it all started the day of our styled session. Panic hit as I watched rain fall out the window. I immediately called Tenesha, and she put my worries at ease by informing me it wasn’t raining yet where the session was being hosted. My sister and I loaded the car up and headed out to this breathtaking private home right off of Lake Norman. Wind picked up as we began setting everything up, and I had the models get in the pool with me. As we did our shots, it began raining. Did that stop us? Heck no! We rocked it out!
As they both got prepped for our next portion, a heavy downpour hit and we hauled everything inside and waited for everything to pass. Verna was there cheering us on though and giving us samples of her amaaaaaaaaaaaazing foods, and we knew no matter what that everything would be okay. I had to laugh because at one point, Tenesha walked outside, threw her arms up, and yelled, “DEAR GOD. PLEASE LET US GET THIS DONE.” and just like that, the rain immediately stopped. We all burst into cheers and laughter, and rushed about getting everything together again to start the second portion. And this magic happened…
I really loved all the Grecian touches our vendors produced!
… and yea, these were just as tasty as they look!
How perfect are these handmade flowers?
Verna was beyond wonderful, and fed us these dishes – It was seriously some of the best food I’ve ever had!
