The Bald and Beautiful Project | Charlotte NC Boudoir

I remember sitting there at the United conference, having just eaten a delicious meal with some new friends, and the five minute fuels started. What is five minute fuel? Anyone could volunteer to get up on stage in front of HUNDREDS of photographers from all around the world to say whatever they wanted. We had people break out in song/rap (Vanilla Wafer – I’m lookin’ at you…), some talked about their biggest struggles to let us know we aren’t alone, and then there was Jaime Davis. She got on stage and showed us stunning photos for her new project for women dealing with cancer. Having just had a coworker from my old job pass away from that horrible thing, this struck me. I fought back tears as I listened to her request for photographers to come forward and serve as I was reminded of my sweet friend that left this world way too soon, and I knew this was something I had to do.

“The Bald and Beautiful Project was started in 2014 by Jaime of Jaime Davis Photography to encourage and empower women who have been diagnosed with cancer to believe in their inner beauty and not rely on hair to feel empowered and gorgeous. Jaime found a need through a friend to spread awareness in the community and show the inner beauty of the woman that are the face of cancer. Jaime donates her time for The Bald and Beautiful Project and shoots boudoir or glamour sessions for cancer patients and survivors.”

Shortly after the website went live, I had an inquiry come in from a wonderful woman asking for photos to capture her body prior to having multiple surgeries. We got her set up, and I met her at her house to rock a session and show power and beauty in all she is. When I left this session, I knew this is definitely something I was proud to be a part of. I watched her open up and share her story with me, and now I’m excited to share some of that here with you all.
