2014 In Review!

2014 was a game changer for me. I was faced with many hard decisions, I recreated my brand, I quit my other job, and I got to travel to so many new places!

CHESTERFIELD SOUTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Brandi called me one night, and immediately asked to book. It was a few months before her weddings, so we didn’t have the same amount of time to get to know each other like I usually have with my brides, but that didn’t change the fact that I knew she was a perfect fit. This South Carolina couple are beyond sweet, and despite a day of rain, their wedding was nothing short of perfection and filled with love!

LAKE WYLIE SOUTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Continuing with another South Carolina couple, these two are in LOVE with the beach, so they included so many personal details from their trips to the beach within their wedding. It was so special, and I loved the hammock they had set out too! And it’s always nice to have couples that adore and appreciate photography because they set aside a great portion of their wedding to just spend together getting those special moments as husband and wife captured!WASHINGTON DC WEDDING : This wedding was a game changer. Since starting photography, I’ve waited for an LGBT couple to come my way, and when someone that I’ve known since 2003 came to me, I screamed. Out loud. Their engagement session was my favorite I’ve done. Their love shines more brightly than most. And as they said their vows on their wedding day, the tears started. For me. And everyone else. I was so beyond honored to have had this chance to capture their relationship, and I adore DC even more than ever now!

CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA WEDDING : I remember walking into the Panera near me to find this bright-eyed beauty and her stunning mother waiting there to meet me for our consultation. “We’ve been really looking at photographers, but we do love your work!” and that’s when I said a silent prayer in my head that I would get this wonderful opportunity to work with the Arp family. God definitely heard me, because when I got the call that they would like for me to capture their moments, I was beyond excited! These two were like models – their love just flows beautifully within every single image, and I was obviously thrilled to get the opportunity to capture parts of Charleston I’ve never been to before with them!WINSTON SALEM NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Growing up, we’d attend morning service at church, and being so shy, I’d always try to sneak upstairs to the balcony, which is where Katie’s family sat as well! It meant the world to me when she asked me to be her wedding photographer, and gah, I LOVED going to Winston Salem for their wedding!!! It was amazing, and the old meets new buildings throughout the city? Beautiful!

GEORGETOWN SOUTH CAROLINA WEDDING : I’ve never seen a love so sweet. The grin that filled Zack’s face the moment he saw Lacey for the first time was the BEST! And even better was when they got their entire story told in Pretty Pear Bride’s magazine – IN PRINT. They wrote the sweetest letters to each other, and their connection is something only fairy tales are written about.

CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : One of my longest friendships has been with Hennie. When I saw the smile that Joey could bring to her face, I knew it was true love — especially when I found out they’d known each other practically their entire lives. We all met at Harris Teeter when we were working there in college, and I am so happy these two finally found each other -truly found each other. RALEIGH NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Who couldn’t love a dimpled doll?! A friend of mine contacted me about her friend needing a wedding photographer, and I was obsessed with how awesome this couple was! The giggles, the kisses…. perfection.

CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Sweet southern charm. That’s what filled this couple’s lives, and it was all brought together at their wedding! I loved the close-knit family feel, and how everyone bonded together to make this wedding nothing but successful.

MINNEAPOLIS MINNESOTA WEDDING : My best friend in high school found the love of his life, and when he asked me to be a part of the wedding as their photographer, my heart soared! These two are some of the most hilarious guys I know, and to see how happy they make each other? I totally approve. I remember when Christina and I drove up to the mansion, and just stared. It was like out of a movie! And so was the wedding 🙂 LOCUST NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : This chick cracks EVERYONE up, and has definitely met the perfect match with Nick! I have never laughed so hard before at a session, and everyone that knows these two would definitely agree that they give great ab workouts for free 😉 Their day was full of sweetness, laughter of course, and pure bliss.

CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Jinitza has always been one of the sweetest girls I know, and when she asked me to be her wedding photographer, my year was made!! And the colors she chose? So unique, and SO SO SO gorgeous! Almost as gorgeous as these two are together 😉

ALBEMARLE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : The perfect wedding. I never thought it was possible, but their day was just that – like, we even ran into about an hour of free time to chill before the wedding because we had literally photographed every detail we could before the ceremony, so I went ahead and started editing the wedding haha. And the sunset they had? Spectacular.

GASTONIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER : My last wedding of 2014! And so memorable and pretty! I loved the Christmas touches they added in since it was just a couple of weeks before then, and absolutely LOVED their venue of the Laboratory Mill! It was perfect, and the owners are so sweet! Did I mention how pretty this wedding was? Because it was.

LOCUST NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Tyler and Steven!!! This is quite possibly the couple I’ve worked the longest with! We have done just about every type of session you can think of, and then some! They are so sweet, and I loved their first look they did the day of their wedding! And when they read their vows to each other in private? TEARS. So many tears!

ALBEMARLE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : The one word I would use to describe these two would be romantic! They had their engagements at the state fair, and shared in so many sweet moments there, their first look resulted in nothing but grinning ear to ear, a bunch of “WOW”s, and absolute happiness between the two. Their families helped bring their day together to make it perfect.

DESTINATION WEDDING FROM ENGLAND : These two beautiful souls came all the from the UK to share in a special kind of day to celebrate their love! This is the closest I’ve been to an Indian wedding as well, which is still at the top of my list of weddings I want to do at some point, and gosh – AMAZING.

CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : These two were some of the first clients I ever had! And by a twist of fate, I got to photograph their wedding this year! It was beautiful, and I LOVED their rooftop reception that overlooked the city 🙂

CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : My first wedding of the year, and these guys started it off right! LOVED their venue, their colors, and the love shared between everyone there! It was a beautiful night, and these two definitely enjoyed every moment!

CONCORD NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : Sweet sweet love! That’s what this day was all about despite the rain! And the cake was out of this world too – like enough for everyone to be taking pieces home for later. And hiding them from their sister… Not that I would have any knowledge on that one… But yes, they could not have been a happier couple! And that excitement was written all over their faces as they saw each other for the first time, said their vows, and got MARRIED!

ALBEMARLE NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING : When I was asked to do bridals for a bride that was serving our own city, I had to say YES. A lot of us vendors came together to create the perfect day for this perfect couple!BURKE VIRGINIA WEDDING : This is the first wedding where we were handed keys to golf carts so we could travel around the venue and take photos – beautiful beautiful photos at sunset – be still, my heart. These guy rocked it.
