Our first Valentine’s Day

Sweet boy,
Today is officially our first Valentine’s Day together. Most couples say they’ve had their ups and downs, but I can truly only say we’ve had nothing but ups. Sure, we’ve had things happen that aren’t the best situations, but it’s truly only allowed us to grow closer. You joke that I always put you on a pedestal, but I only speak truth. How many guys woo a woman by saving her a cup of snow from the mountains? How many guys drive their lady to the front of a restaurant when it’s pouring rain so she doesn’t have to get wet walking across the parking lot? Or reach out to hold her hand in his sleep? It’s the little things you do. I’m excited for our dinner plans tonight! The surprise? It’s at the first place you ever took me to! The place you chose for us, and drove all the way from Boone to pick me up despite me assuring you I’d be happy to meet halfway, and why? Because “real men pick their dates up from their home!” You mean the absolute world to me, and I’m so thankful to have you by my side!
