The Workshop – 2016 – Ritchie Hill in Concord NC

When I first started reallllly pondering what I wanted to do in life, photography was the root of my dreams. But everyone I asked about it would tell me how awful it is, that I’d end up hating this passion that I so desperately wanted to fill my time with. And I listened. Six years after graduating high school, and being up to my eyeballs in course work on things I was feeling ‘meh’ about, I was pushed off the cliff of uncertainty by a dear friend that believed in me. I was terrified. I expected to just fall into a pit of failure, but that didn’t happen. See, the cool thing about something being your true passion is that you will fight for that. Because once you’ve had a taste of ‘the good life’, you can’t even think about doing anything else.

So, for this workshop, I’m going to dive in to how I started my business, how I networked with both clients and vendors, I’ll talk about the failures, how I got into weddings, and then we will absolutely have snack time, because I’m the adult running this show. After we are full of yummy goodness, we are going to get into the NOW. How I book clients, how to attract your ideal clients, how I treat them throughout their experience, how to host your own styled sessions, and then we are going to do some fun little goodies.

1) We will do a quick walk through of how I do engagement sessions with an actual couple present so attendees can watch and also take their own photos.

2) There will be a full styled wedding shoot set up, and I’ll walk everyone through how I get the shots needed by editors, and give a list of must-have shots as well. This will also be geared towards what to shoot on the wedding day. Everyone will also have a chance to photograph everything on their own! We will have everything set up in stations, so there will be plenty of space and time for each attendee to get what they want.

Please note that while shooting, we will focus on using natural light, how to get it ‘right’ in camera, and also posing for different shapes and sizes.

Included in this is obviously lunch. It will be delicious. And party music will be playing.

Once we complete all the fun shooting, we will return to our conference room, and we will go over what happens after you’ve done the wedding. I’ll talk a little bit about editing, delivery of images, and then also cover the submissions process to get published! We have some fabulous prizes lined up from our sponsors, so get ready 🙂
