He had been diagnosed with cancer three times. Against all odds, he fought it off, but still had treatments and checkups filling his schedule. His memory would fade in and out, but it was her hope that he could be there to watch her walk down the aisle to the one she would spend the rest of her life with, just as he’d spent his life with his one and only – something he wished for all his grandchildren. As she said her vows, tears streamed down her grandfather’s face. He was so proud of her, and he was so grateful to get to be there to see that joy glisten in her eyes as she said, “I do,”, something he remembered seeing in his own bride’s eyes on their day long ago. When they later went to share a special grandfather/granddaughter dance to celebrate, emotions overflowed as he swayed her back and forth while reminiscing of the times he’d taken her fishing when she was only a little girl. That moment. That glimpse into what is now a memory. She will always get to see the love he holds in his heart for her. She will always get to see the excitement that her sweet bridesmaids had for her as she slipped into her dress for the final time just moments before walking down the aisle. She will always get to see the look of complete admiration her groom had for her in that instant he turned around to see her for the first time, and the way her veil danced in the wind as they embraced, nuzzling in for sweet eskimo kisses and laughing together because their day had finally come. She will have these moments frozen in time, forever cherished, and one day she will get to show her own grandchildren the day she married her own one and only.

It’s why I do what I do. It’s what I live for – those pure moments that we all dream of. I preserve these precious details and pieces of time so that they can be reminders of what is held within their hearts, and so that that joy can live on for generations.
