Just before the bridal show on Sunday, my sister and I decided she would come back to Charlotte with me and spend the night. I had a sudden thought enter my mind, but dismissed it til I could really think it through…

But that thought just stayed. I needed a break. I’ve been so busy with trying to keep things going smoothly, doing my part time job, and juggling everything else in life. I needed to get away for just a day and relax. At the same time, my sister turned and said, “Well… since I’ll be with you, I was wondering if I could get some photos done? It’s been awhile, and I’d really like that.” I lit up and knew instantly that it was my sign.

On Monday morning, I woke up my sister and surprised her with a trip to Boone for the day. Before my cousin moved to Tennessee, he showed me several incredible spots hidden away from everything. Getting out of Charlotte and enjoying the crisp fresh air of the mountains was exactly what I needed to clear my head!

Now, I like to brag that my sense of direction is pretty awesome, although sometimes I do question it. I couldn’t really recall where my cousin and I went, but just thought I knew the general whereabouts. My friend had already made fun of me that day since I said we should all meet for lunch at the Japanese place beside Goodwill and Big Lots… The response I got was, “Okay. So just one question. Big Lots and Goodwill are on two different sides of town lol…” … Thank you, memory! We kept driving, and the further out we went, the louder my prayers got. “Oh, no worries, Alexa, we are simply taking the scenic route… heh.” And just when I was close to turning around and saying “JK GUYS”, there it was! The entrance to our magical photographic paradise!

To those passing us by, I’m pretty sure they were judging. We were both getting stuck in and under trees, fighting the fall into the marsh-like ground, and laughing hysterically as Alexa took my posing suggestions a bit far. We also had a hair-whipping contest.
