Adventures of Molly, Personal

Snow Day 2013

As a photographer, I strive to capture stunning moments that people will love. Not gonna lie, each time I upload a photo onto Facebook, I stalk it for the next day to see how many ‘likes’ it gets. So when I uploaded a photo of Molly playing in the snow last night, I was kinda shocked that by 11pm it already had 76 likes total… It makes me laugh that out of all these photos I upload, she gets more likes in a short amount of time than any I’ve ever taken. As Mary Marantz said, you can never tell which photo will be ‘that one’.

So yes. Yesterday was a very interesting day. I woke up to rain, watched it change into this nasty wet “snow”, and then back to rain again. I called my sister as I went to go do some errands.
“Yea, it’s supposed to get bad around 4pm…” she said. Snow? Whatevs, yo. It doesn’t snow here. I’ve waited two years now to see a good snow. As I finished the errands up, I believe it was like… 5pm maybe? It wasn’t doing anything. I came home, got into my yoga pants, and I just sat in the room trying to figure out this bridal show stuff. Suddenly, I see people start posting all these photos of snow in Charlotte. I had literally only been inside for fifteen minutes… How in the world could I miss that? I went to the window thinking “These people are crazy” and then about had a heart attack as I saw HUGE white flakes falling very quickly. The ground was already covered. I was stunned. I opened the window and sat there watching with Molly. She’s never seen snow before, so she was perplexed as these flakes flew in and landed all around her. These tiny little growls came from her, so I asked if she wanted to go out and play in it. I grabbed my camera, knocked on my friend’s door to invite him to come along, and off we went!
Molly LOVED it. She was going crazy as it fell! I sat and watched as she chased after the falling snow, face planted in it, and then Christian started a game of tag with her 🙂 We had a BLAST and everyone was soaked by the time we went back inside.
These are the moments that remind me to stop for a break from time to time just to take in the beauty and moments that await.

Anyway, I’m off to do the bridal show today! If you’ve missed all the posts I’ve made about it, please join me from 1pm-5pm at Dennis Vineyards in Albemarle NC! I am giving away several awesome prizes (including some awesome Kate Spade gear!), and would love to see you guys there! I chose my booth to be beside the wine and cake. You shouldn’t be surprised here.
