something a little different | Charlotte NC Senior Photographer

The amount of faith and trust my sister has in me is incredible… We’d been mentioning back and forth about needing to do photos again sometime (I usually set everything and hand the camera over to her to grab some shots of me while I do a session with her), and everything fell into place this past weekend. I happened to have my schedule open up some on Saturday, and found out she and my dad would be in town for lunch. I casually asked what she was doing, and well, it just moved right into her telling me she was down for whatever I had in mind. I had two sessions left that afternoon, but we immediately hit up rue21 to see if we could find a vintage-like dress… and boy, did we score! $5? Done. We went on to talk about headpieces, and she was really excited about using flowers. I have no skillz when it comes to crafting anything like that, so while I was doing those sessions, she was hard at work in the car fixing something up!  As soon as I saw her all decked out, I knew I wanted to do something a little bit differently than my usual – I wanted to create a film look. I have always loved how beautiful film images are, and it’s like the photos just have an extra something to them. I walked her through poses in just a few minutes, and then we were ready to head out… but I was secretly wanting to take her to the lake… but it was actually like 65 degrees out, and certainly not swimming weather, so I bottled up my idea. We all know that doesn’t work well, so I just stopped and blurted out that I really would like to go to the lake and have her get in it. She started laughing because she thought I was joking. And then realized I wasn’t. She put her faith in me, and wow- I am so in love with the results! It really does pay to take a step back and try something new 🙂
