When Tenesha with RoShel Events casually mentioned this session to me, I’m not sure I knew what to expect… but I know I have never felt so much excitement about a session before! The details, the location, the models – they were all absolutely perfect! I was in shock at this beauty.
Tenesha had a vision – “I wanted to create a modern take on the Harlem Renaissance era. So we brought in bold colors and a mixed a bit of old with the new in order to create that feel. The altar backdrop is one of the main focal points for this shoot, it is an antique vanity covered with flowers. We used the runner to tie in a poem written by Langston Hughes during that era, called “Jukebox Love Song”, so we put the last line of the poem on the runner. The building used was built in 1923, so we took to the 6th floor of the building with it’s exposed brick walls to host this session. The girls were dressed in pearls and sequined gowns to resemble a more Hollywood glam look from that era. I also loved the contrast between the unfinished walls and sequined gowns.”
