Charlotte Photography Workshop on Styled Sessions and Appealing to Your Ideal Clients | Charlotte NC

filed in

It seems like my life has been all about proving my own self wrong in my expectations. “I’ll never be a photographer!” I said… And then started my business. “I’ll never do weddings!” I said… And then I specialized in it. The other thing I said? “I’ll never teach!” …. And now I am proud (and slightly terrified) to announce that once again, I was wrong, and I am hosting my first ever workshop!

So, how did this happen?? Like most things, I had finally gotten enough inquiries asking me if I ever host workshops, and until this point, I’d always said no. But then I realized that I don’t really have any referrals that are local for workshops, and I feel pretty confident in myself to teach about one thing many have asked me about – Styled Sessions.

We will have TWO styled sessions – one indoors and one out in the garden, and all attendees will have the chance to photograph both setups, as well as use their images in their portfolios, on social media, etc.

So what topics will be covered? We will start off the day talking about the whys and hows of planning your own sessions, working with vendors, maintaining vendor relations,  how to use styled sessions to appeal to your ideal clients, what to look out for when planning a session, how to know what blogs are looking for, learning what details are needed, how to photograph the details in an editorial way, how to pose your couples, the differences of shooting inside and outside, and then we’ll end our day with learning how to create a submission and how to submit it for publication.

With now having over 60 publications of my own in the past two years, I do feel confident in knowing and understanding the ins and outs of doing these sessions, and have had a great time using it as an artistic outlet as well. It’s also great practice for those looking to step into weddings since they will have more time to play around with details and the couple to learn and understand angles and what looks best.
