It’s no secret that I LOVE Pretty Pear Bride and all they stand for! I became friends with Shafonne, the founder/editor/queen of this blog and magazine, back when I first submitted something to her, and I have been absolutely DYING to meet her in real life! So when it popped up in my newsfeed how different the weather was in Asheville than where she lives, I had a freak out moment. I immediately asked her if she was for real in Asheville, which is only a couple of hours away, and she said yes! We made plans to finally meet face to face on Wednesday, and I asked Christina, who has also grown a friendship and love for Shafonne, if she’d want to go too. Want to hear the crazy part? Her mom was heading to Asheville for that day for work, so she offered to take us along for free! It was obviously something meant to happen.
We arrived right at lunch time, and had about 5.5 hours to kill, so our first stop was Tupelo Honey, which if you’ve never been, you MUST go! Their food is delicious, local, and you get free biscuits and honey and blueberry jam. It’s a win all around. Urban Outfitters was right across the street, so after finishing up a delicious lunch, we headed over to see all what we could find. I cracked up at the book shared below…
I had asked several folks on Facebook where we should go, and Chocolate Fetish was highly suggested. O.M.G. This place. It’s where dreams are made. After grabbing some chocolates, we hit up some local shops, took photos of each other for the heck of it, and walked fifteen miles in the pourin’ rain – all uphill! At least it felt like that. Basically, we explored all of downtown Asheville. At one point, I found this great little alleyway with a garden, and literally stood there for half an hour waiting on a couple to walk by to ask if they wanted some cute photos really quickly. I even almost tried pairing up a single man and a single woman, but Christina told me that’s too weird. They would have been cute together though… So I settled on more photos of just me and Christina separately.
Before we knew it, it was time to go meet up with Shafonne! I was kinda worried about getting a taxi, but we called the Asheville Taxi Co, and Bobby arrived pretty quickly, got us where we needed to be, and was just plain awesome 🙂 And then Shafonne happened. Hugs, hugs, and more hugs!! We sat down to chat for about half an hour, and it flew by in what felt like an instant! Shafonne is just one of those people that you feel like you’ve known forever. It was like catching up with an old friend, and we had the best laughs ever! We took some photos together, and then Christina and I ended our day by grabbing dinner. All in all, our trip up to see Shafonne was everything I could have hoped for 🙂 Here’s to more Casey/Christina/Shafonne hangouts!
