Life as a Maid of Honor – Part 3 – Invitations!

filed in

For those that have been reading, you know that my best friend Christina asked me to be her MOH, and I started a mini blog series about tips and what I’ve learned through this experience! Today, I wanted to talk about invitations and how many to order if you’re doing these on your own. Christina chose to order a gorgeous set she had found online, but made a little boo boo that a LOT of brides do, and I totally forgot this happens often… You see, their invite list is about 150 people long. Soooo they ordered 150 invitations. Makes sense right? Wrong! The majority of their list involved couples or families, so they actually needed to order like half. We only realized this when we had been given a list of addresses for 46 people. We flew through that list like nobody’s business, and then Christina realized how odd that seemed, so she counted the envelopes. 23. And that’s when it hit every single one of us that we had quite a bit more invitations than planned 😉

All this being said, I’d suggest making a list of everyone you plan to invite, and allow room for them to bring a guest. BUT, also make note of those that live together/are married so you know to only order one invite for them. It’s a simple slip-up that may end up costing you lots! But then again, it also gives you room to mess up addresses without worrying you’ll run out of envelopes haha!
